It usually comes down to three things: your commute, your budget, and how much space and quiet you want around you. Mililani sits in Central Oʻahu at higher elevation, cooler and greener. ʻEwa Beach and Kapolei sit on the leeward plain, dry and sunny, with the shortest routes toward Pearl Harbor, Hickam, and Kalaeloa. Waipahu sits centrally between West Oʻahu and town, with rail access built in. Waiʻanae and the leeward coast generally offer the most space for the money. Mililani and the rest of Central Oʻahu sit closer to Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Airfield, and NCTAMS PAC in Wahiawā. Waipahu falls roughly between the two.
